2017 Philosophy Affinity Group Meeting
The ASBH Philosophy Affinity Group invites proposal submissions for presentation at its session to be held from 6-7 p.m. on Saturday, October 21 at the 2017 ASBH Annual Meeting in Kansas City, Missouri.
Submissions may address any topic in bioethics and may do so from any philosophical perspective, tradition, or methodology. The group has made a commitment to feature and support work by graduate students and those in the first five years of an academic or other professional appointment, so priority will be given to proposals from early career scholars.
Due to ASBH’s decision to reduce affinity group sessions from 75 to 60 minutes, and in keeping with the group’s commitment to allow for deeper and more extensive discussion of papers, only one proposal will be selected by peer-review for presentation this year. However, we will arrange for that presentation to receive prepared comments from mid-career and senior scholars in addition to providing constructive feedback from the audience.
Those interested should submit an abstract of 500 words or less describing the proposed presentation to Jeremy Garrett (firstname.lastname@example.org<mailto:email@example.com>). Each submission will be peer-reviewed on the basis of the proposal’s clarity and organization, philosophical depth and richness, and importance and originality. The deadline for proposal submissions is Monday, August 14 and final decisions will be returned by Friday, September 8.
All attendees of ASBH are welcome to attend the session and participate in the discussion.
