What do traffic lights have to do with the latest genetic technology? The advent of CRISPR/Cas9 had made changing the human genome easier than ever, and opens doors for immense progress and danger. Possibilities such as treating formerly incurable diseases, changing the genotypes of offspring, and enhancing human potential are examined in parallel to issues of federal funding, the destruction of excess embryos, and the value of traits and talents. The precautionary and proactionary principles are considered, but every new advancement can accommodate only one.
